Great news: we’re a Tesla Powerwall certified installer!
We are happy to announce that we have been certified to become installers of the Tesla Powerwall home battery.
What is Powerwall?
Powerwall is a home battery that charges using electricity produced by solar PV panels, or when utility rates are low, and powers your home in the evening, when you use electricity the most.
Powerwall is an automated, compact and easy to install battery. It can help you maximise the consumption of electricity produced by solar panels.
In case a utility outage happens, Powerwall can power your house or a few selected appliances with an uninterrupted supply using electricity stored in the battery.
Go off the grid
With Powerwall, you can even go off the grid! You can combine solar panels and one or more Powerwall home batteries to power your home independently from the utility grid.
How it works
A typical Powerwall system includes:
- Solar panels,
- An inverter for converting electricity between direct current and alternating current,
- A meter for measuring battery charge, and
- In backup applications, a secondary circuit that powers key appliances.
Which components are required depends on how you use your home battery.
Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla Motors, says that Powerwall “looks like a sculpture on the wall”. Not only it maximises the energy consumption of your house, but it also contributes to the overall modern design of your house! The battery is available in a wide range of colours, so you have the chance to match your interior or exterior design, depending on where you want to install it.
Why is Tesla Powerwall different from other batteries?
Compared to ordinary home batteries, Powerwall is compact, cheap and easy to install and it requires no maintenance! Powerwall is equipped with a lithium ion battery which uses Tesla’s proven automotive battery technology.
Each Powerwall has a 6.4 kWh energy storage capacity, sufficient to power an average home during the evening using electricity generated by solar panels during the day.
If your house has greater energy needs, then multiple batteries can be installed together.
